First Steps

Steps on our way to Latin America for a year:

Learn Spanish ... (Hola)

Let our house (unsuccessfully to date)

  • Pack up chattels (other half refuses to get locked into attic)

Reduce garden to stubble so that future tenants will have nothing to do except enjoy British summer

Create this blog (so as to remind you all why you have decided to stay put!)

Apart from all that, the idea of being in Chile -say in about 6 weeks - is very exciting. How will we cope with empty diaries? No obligations? President Obama on the same land mass?

To find out, you'll have to become a "follower" ...

I think it's high time somebody stepped out there to see if there's life left on earth. I get occasional phone calls from New Zealand. I have pictures of Obama somewhere and I have been toild there's an ice floe or two left. This is 28 days later - only for real.
Great that you're going. Wash your hands and tuck your shirts in, in case you meet anyone on the road xx

Hello girls,

I love the blog. Never ones to shy away from adventure, you two globe trekkers will end up discovering some new tribe living high in the Andes. Attenborough better watch out or his clogs will be filled before he pops them!

I can see my last comment in February did not register so if this comment doesn't work (ie I still have not got how to do it) I will resort to e mailing.

Celine looks lovely and very at home. I am awe-struck by your efforts in tackling language barrier with all its twists and turns....mountains sound fantastic. It reads like a proper travel article Hil, truly. Love Christine
